According to Wikipedia, “Mental health encompasses emotional, psychological and social well-being. It influences cognition, perception and behavior.” It might seem like a complicated term with a fancy definition using big words. But it’s not. Mental health is a simple concept which talks about how we feel and how our minds react and respond to situations. Just like physical health, proper care of our mental health is a necessity in order to keep ourselves healthy overall. It describes how an individual would handle stress, cope with difficult situations, maintain personal and professional relationships, analyze a problem and make a rational decision over it.

In the past two decades, depression has become a common term which most people are familiar with. Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble doing normal day-to-day activities and sometimes you may feel as if life isn’t worth living. More than just a bout of the blues, depression isn’t a weakness and you can’t simply “snap out” of it. Depression may require long-term treatment. Most people with depression feel better with medication, psychotherapy or both.

These anxious feelings are a natural way for the body to prepare itself for an important event. You would have also noticed how you started to calm down once the event was under way; you started to breathe easier and your heart stopped thumping. Such an anxiety actually helps us perform better as it makes us more alert. However, some people experience anxiety or anxiety attacks for no apparent reason. If you find it hard to control your worries and if these constant feelings of anxiety affect your ability to go about your daily activities, then it might be a case of an anxiety disorder

Anxiety is a normal emotion. It’s your brain’s way of reacting to stress and alerting you of potential danger ahead. Everybody knows what it's like to feel anxious -- the butterflies in your stomach, the tension you feel, and the way your heart pounds if you're in danger. Anxiety rouses you to action. It gears you up to face a threatening situation. It makes you study harder for that exam, and keeps you on your toes when you're making a speech. In general, it helps you cope.

Once upon a time there lived a baby toad with his mother and father. They were a happy family, one day the baby toad fell sick he had a very bad ache in his tummy. "Mommy, it hurts here." Poor baby toad wailed. "Don't worry my child, once we visit a doctor he will make you healthy again". The baby toad asked, "What does it mean to be healthy mommy?". The mommy toad replied, "It means that you are strong and have no pain in that tummy."
